Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! Review

Overall Rating: 3 out of 5

Brief Description: I currently own this game on the Nintendo Switch. Overall, I would rate this game as a 3 out of 5. It was fairly well made and developed, however, there are a few kinks that could be fixed or changed.

I’ll start with the positive aspects of this game: the graphics are beautifully mad,e to the point where the characters look and move very realistically. Also, the battles within the game are more challenging than past Pokemon games such as the Pokemon games for the GameBoy, DS, and more. Something I really like was the fact that the player carries a Pokemon bag so that Pokemon not in the player’s party can be carried with them anywhere. This is a feature that I have never heard of in all of my years of playing similar games. In the past, the player would have to go to a specific machine in the Poke center in order to swap out or exchange their Pokemon.

On the other hand, there were a few negative things that I didn’t really like about the game. For starters, there is no way to fight a wild Pokemon. The only option is to run away or throw a poke ball. In past games, players would be able to level up their Pokemon by fighting other trainers within the game as well as fighting wild Pokemon, but this difference makes it more difficult to level up your Pokemon. I also found it a bit weird that the game only makes you use one of the Nintendo Switch controllers instead of using both. This can be fine for some people that are playing the game, but I felt like there should’ve been an option to use both controllers.

By considering some changes, this game could be a very popular game that many will love and hopefully rate higher than average.
